Russia, tutulong magkaroon ng Power Plant ang Pilipinas!

Pinirmanahan na ng ROSATOM (Russia's state nuclear corporation) at ng Pilipinas ang Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) para sa layuning pag-aralan ang pagtatayo ng nuclear power infrastrature sa ating bansa.

"The parties intend to cooperate in the development of the national nuclear infrastructure in the Republic of the Philippines to support further implementation of the peaceful nuclear program in the country... Rosatom possesses a unique experience in the field of NPP (nuclear power plant) construction projects and nuclear infrastructure development in many countries around the globe and we are ready to actively share this experience with our Philippine partners," sabi ng Rosatom tungkol sa proyekto.

Ang MOU ay pinirmahan nila Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi at ni ROSATOM Deputy Director General Nikolay Spasskiy. Nangyari ang pirmahan sa sidelines ng ASEAN 2017.

Posible rin pag-aralan ang muling pagbubukas ng Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) na ilang dekada ng naipasara.

Ang BNPP ay naipatayo noong kapanahunan ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos. Sa kamasamaang palad, hindi ito nagamit dahil sa diumano pangamba sa seguridad. Ngunit, patuloy na na-panatili ng gobyerno ang pasilidad. Inaasahang makakatulong ito para mabawasan ang singil sa kuryente.
